Zocalo Construction builds Lionsback Resort Casitas Lionsback Resort, a desert oasis, located near the confluence of Moab, Utah, the Colorado & Green River, Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, and the Sand Flats Recreation Area.

Nestled on the west flank of Lionsback Ridge, just a stone’s throw from Moab, this 175-acre resort is home base to world-class mountain biking, river rafting, dirt bike and 4×4 off roading, base jumping and hiking. Lionsback boasts stunning views of the Needles formations lying at the base of the snowcapped LaSalle Mountains, along with unparalleled nighttime stargazing.

After nearly 20 years of entitlement and approvals, the resort was designed to be a low-impact, eco-sensitive recreation haven. The Master Plan outlines the development of 188 casitas alongside a 150-room, full-service, four-star hotel.

Zocalo Construction was engaged by the Owner to provide pre-construction services, planning, and delivery as the General Contractor of this exclusive for-sale residential experience, that is unprecedented for the region. Building logistics in a remote location, along with planning and working in a sensitive cryptographic soil areas, requires meticulous planning and site control. Constrained resources and harsh building conditions demanded exceptional planning, execution, grit and polish to deliver casitas of exceptional quality for discerning buyers and guests.

The 2 and 3 bedroom, one and two story casitas feature a prominent Indiana Limestone feature wall that extends from outside through the Great Rooms, with voluminous wood ceilings, and back with outdoor patios with giant panoramic views. Custom vertical grain white oak kitchen cabinets, crafted in Italy with contemporary European detailing, and high-end stainless appliances create gourmet kitchen spaces. Each room is defined by custom white oak European jamb-style doors with unique style and sound attenuating qualities, also crafted in Italy. Voluptuous bath details include extraordinary tile details, expansive European showers with full-height glass, elegant Waterworks plumbing fixtures, and generous soaking tubs. The garages are designed for “big toys” ready to hit the trails just minutes from the front door.
