CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER
LEED® AP
David Zucker co-founded Zocalo Community Development with a clear conviction that real estate can, and should, balance investment performance, community benefit, and environmental responsibility.
Since arriving in Denver in 1990, David has been a catalyst for downtown revitalization. His first project, the Lofts over the Wynkoop Brewery, helped pioneer urban living in the city. He went on to lead acclaimed historic conversions such as the Downtown Denver and Downtown San Diego Courtyards by Marriott, both utilizing the Historic Investment Tax Credit.
David was among Denver’s earliest advocates for inclusionary housing, developing three of the first four deed-restricted, for-sale projects that shaped the city’s Inclusionary Housing Ordinance.
Under his leadership, Zocalo has become one of Colorado’s most respected development firms—recognized for thoughtful, innovative, and skillfully executed projects. The company has twice set state records for price-per-unit multifamily sales. As a LEED® Accredited Professional, David oversees all aspects of project development and management to ensure each project meets rigorous standards for design, financial performance, and sustainability. His achievements earned him recognition as the Denver Business Journal’s Developer of the Year (2012).
David holds an MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. His civic leadership includes serving as former Chair of the State of Colorado Housing Board, past Chair of KUVO’s Board of Directors, and past Co-Chair of the Downtown Denver Partnership’s Housing Council. He also co-founded the University of Denver’s Affordable Housing Conference, which he co-chaired for its first five years.
